Essential Needs Care Packages for Those Experiencing Homelessness

We are writing to you from the Brown Muslim Students’ Association, located in Providence, RI, looking to help an especially vulnerable population of those experiencing homelessness this winter season.

Those who give, out of their own possessions, by night and by day, in private and in public, will have their reward with their Lord: no fear for them, nor will they grieve [2:274]

The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected those experiencing homelessness across the country. Given the on-and-off lockdowns and social distancing guidelines, homeless individuals are experiencing high rates of COVID-19 exposure, lack of donations, and little community support. As the weather grows colder, the situation becomes more dire. For that reason, we are requesting your support to donate towards essential care-packages for those experiencing homelessness in Providence, RI.

TO DONATE (IF ABLE) :)

  1. Go to this link(tinyurl.com/bmsacares)

  2. Enter your donation amount, and “add to cart.”

  3. Finally, choose the “Brown Muslim Student’s Association” from the drop-down menu, and then continue to checkout.

Each care-package will cost roughly $10.00.

The raised funds will be used to purchase (in whole-stock) combinations of the following items:

  • Socks

  • Gloves and hats

  • Snacks

  • Bottles of water

  • Hand wipes/Kleenex

  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste

  • Feminine hygiene products

  • Bandaids

The care-packages will be distributed to homeless individuals in Providence by Masjid-Al-Kareem, a local mosque run by Imam Abdullatif Sackor.
